Privacy Policy

The short version: PlayPup doesn't collect your personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Everything you enter stays on your phone.
Who we are
PlayPup (“the app”) is published by ShaSum Ventures LLC (“we”, “us”). If you have any questions about this policy, email us at support@playpup.app.
Information we don't collect
We don't operate any servers for the app, and we don't receive any of the information you enter. The app has no accounts or sign-in, and it contains no advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking tools. We don't sell, rent or share personal information, because we don't have any.
Information stored on your phone
To work, the app stores the following on your device only:
- Your dogs' names, daily playtime goals and, if you add them, their photos
- Your play sessions (dates and lengths), streaks, records and achievements
- Your reminder settings and app preferences
This information never leaves your phone through the app, and we can't see it. If you delete the app, this information is deleted from your phone. Your phone's own backup service (such as iCloud or Google backup) may include app data, depending on your device settings; those services are run by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies.
Photos
If you choose a photo for your dog, the app uses your phone's photo picker, so it only receives the single photo you select. A copy is kept inside the app on your phone. The app doesn't access the rest of your photo library and doesn't use the camera.
Reminders
Daily play reminders and streak nudges are local notifications, scheduled and shown by your phone. No notification service or server is involved, and no device identifiers are collected. The app asks for notification permission only when you first turn a reminder on, and you can turn reminders off at any time.
Sharing achievements
When you share an achievement, the app creates the image on your phone and opens your phone's share sheet. Whatever you share goes to the app or person you choose, under their privacy terms. Nothing is sent to us.
Purchases and subscriptions
PlayPup Premium is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Your payment and billing details are handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never receive them. To unlock Premium, the app checks your subscription status with Apple or Google, which is the only time the app communicates over the internet. Apple's and Google's privacy policies apply to those transactions.
This website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or trackers, and it loads no outside fonts or scripts. It is hosted on GitHub Pages; GitHub may log basic technical information, such as IP addresses, for security purposes, as described in the GitHub Privacy Statement.
Children's privacy
The app isn't directed at children under 13, and it doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
- You can edit or delete any dog or play session in the app at any time.
- You can turn notifications off in the app or in your phone's settings.
- Deleting the app removes all of its data from your phone.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If the app ever starts collecting information, we'll update this policy before it does.
